La Dolce Villa came out in 2025, and it's basically a rom-com that drops you right into some gorgeous scenery in Italy. Mark Waters directed it, and you've got Scott Foley, Violante Placido, and Maia Reficco as the main folks. It landed on Netflix around Valentine's Day in 2025, which makes sense because it's all about family stuff, growing as a person, and how awesome Italian culture is.

Alright, so here's the deal with the story. This guy, Eric Field (played by Scott Foley), is a businessman from Ohio. He's a widower and runs this company that helps restaurants out. He's got his life all planned out, but then his daughter, Olivia (Maia Reficco), who's 24 and loves to try new things, decides she wants to buy this beat-up villa in Italy. It's in this small, cute town called Montezara. Eric's worried she's just being impulsive and might lose a bunch of money, so he flys to Italy to talk her out of it.

When he gets there, he meets Francesca (Violante Placido), who's the mayor. She's super friendly and tells him about this thing the town's doing where they're selling old houses for, like, next to nothing to get people to move there and fix them up. Even though Eric's not so sure about the whole thing at the start, he starts to fall in love with the town and the people in it.

As they're fixing up the villa, Eric and Olivia run into all sorts of problems, from the house being a mess to not understanding the local ways of doing things. But while all this is going on, Eric starts getting closer to his daughter, and he remembers how much he liked cooking a long time ago. Plus, he and Francesca start to hit it off, so he's not just fixing up a house; he's changing his whole life.

Now, who plays who in this movie?

* Scott Foley is Eric Field: The dad who's got his life planned but ends up changing everything.

* Violante Placido is Francesca. She's the mayor who's trying to make her town popular again.

*Maia Reficco is Olivia Liv Field, the daughter who wants to start fresh in Italy.

*Giuseppe Futia is Giovanni: The chef who knows everything about Italian food.

*Simone Luglio is Nino: He's good at fixing things and helps with the villa.

They shot the film in Italy, so that’s why it looks so real. They went to:

* Rome: For the city scenes that show how grand Italy is.

*Eastern Lazio: This is where they made Montezara. If you want to visit Montezara, it’s about 45             minutes from Rome. They found the right buildings and countryside to make the place look nice.

*Tuscany: Tuscany made the movie look more romantic.

*Cinecittà Studios: The inside parts of the villa were recorded inside of the studio.

The movie's trying to tell you a few things:

*It's alright to change: Eric finds that it’s okay to change your mind and find something you enjoy doing.

*Families can be hard: Eric and his daughter learn to accept one another's ideas.

*Seeing the world can change you: Italian culture is different, and the film likes to make a deal about it.

So, what are people saying about it?

* Good stuff: Some like that it’s not too serious. The actors and backgrounds also do a good job.

* Bad stuff: People say that the story in the film is not new.
